History of the Porsche 911

The Porsche 911 is over 60 years old! This fabulous car was first introduced in 1963 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show. At the time, car enthusiasts did not think that this car was anything special, or that it would become as successful a model as it has today.

History of the Porsche 911

The very first Porsche 911 model was designed by F. A Porsche, who was Ferry Porsche’s son. When the Porsche 911 was first designed, the car was designed with features like an air-cooled flat-six engine, and the ability to accelerate to 100km in the span of 9 seconds. These features were all extremely impressive for the time, particularly for a sportscar like this.

As the decades passed, the Porsche 911 has established itself as one of the most classic Porsche models ever! Perry Porsche, founder of the Porsche company, once stated that the 911 is the only car that a person can drive from a safari to a French city, and from a theatre straight onto the streets of New York City
